Apply here

We will be doing five events (one per month from May to September, each on a Saturday). Events hours will be from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., enabling us to capture spillover traffic from the West Side Market’s busiest day.

September 21

You can sign up for all dates at a discounted rate of $200 or for single events at $50 per. Because this is an outdoor show, tents are advised. We will not be supplying tables and tents for all vendors, however, we do have 10 of each available to rent at an additional cost of $50 (all shows) or $15 per show, if available. These tents and tables are first come, first serve, and we will be giving preference to vendors who choose to participate in all shows.

Bazaar Bizarre West parking and trolley

4 Dec

If you’ve ever been to the west show, you know parking can get a little crazy, especially first thing on Saturday! The Detroit Shoreway Community Development Organization have planned a their own holiday event this Saturday 12/8 in the heart of Gordon Square called WRAPPED IN TRADITION, with activities and retail events. To tie all the excitement happening near W. 65th and Detroit Avenue with all the excitement happening of Bazaar Bizarre in our building that day, and to make the parking and exploration easy for visitors, they’ve hired Lolly The Trolley to transport people through several trolley stops (78SS being one of them) all day from noon to 6 pm. Click here for all the details!

Here’s a parking map for 78th Street Studios. There will be officers assisting with parking, and some overflow availability as well. It can be a challenge running an event with over 4000 visitors (our lowball count from last year) when parking is tough. But with the help of Lolly the Trolley, our friends in Gordon Square and everyone at 78th Street Studios, we know you’ll have a great time shopping handmade this year at Bazaar Bizarre!

30 Nov

The show takes place next Saturday (8 December) from 10-9 and Sunday from 10-6 at 78th Street Studios (1301 West 78th St, Cleveland OH 44102)

In addition to your favorite food trucks, music and much more, this year’s Bazaar Bizarre show at West 78th Street will also feature a photobooth by The Magnolia Photo Booth Company. Take home a photo of your friends and fabulous finds during your time at BazBiz!

Allie M. Designs
www.alliem.com

About: After graduating from high school I decided but where else besides Los Angeles, CA to get my start in jewelry design. So, 1999 along with family support I packed up and moved to California. Once settled I started FLD, a pet accessories business, which was a stepping stone for my now successful product line. With graduating in 2004 with my BA in Fashion Design and Marketing I moved back to Ohio to take a few classes in metals, which enhanced my already known knowledge of resin, epoxy along with my own Allie flare of vintage style.

At present time along with all of the knowledge, education and support that I have gained over the years, I’m very excited and proud to announce my new Symbolic Herb Collection. I hope this line brings peace and solitude to all as it has brought to my family and friends!

My jewelry collections range from inspirational hand-stamped messages, symbolic herbs, and vintage style charms. Most if not all of my designs are made from resins, brass, bronze and sterling silver.

Amy Kozak Designs (formerly oblinaknit)
http://amykozakdesigns.etsy.com or http://amykozak.com

About: I am a jewelry and accessories designer who specializes in accessory bags, knit wire, and wire-wrapped gemstone and precious metal jewelry.

Infatuated with fabric, fiber, and beads, I left my career as a scientist and developed my love of handmade into a business. My accessories line is a fresh mix of functional wristlets, pouches, handbags, and totes made with fun and colorful Japanese fabrics.

My jewelry line began with knitted wire. Since its inception, I have expanded to more intricate gemstone pieces and metal work, as well as some vintage-style pieces in my current collection.

All designs are handcrafted by me in my home studio using hand-selected gemstones and precious metals to create individual pieces for everyday life.

I currently reside in Virginia with my two silly cats – Kenneth (my logo model and muse) and Miss Dahlia (in charge of QC and anything food-related).

Aviaire Wares
aviaire.etsy.com

About: Aviaire is my creative outlet and effort /contribution to making the world a little more socially responsible one day at a time by reducing waste and re-using/re-cycling the abandoned and forgotten. In finding the beauty in the broken and discarded, I transform those treasures with great history into unique one-of-a-kind pieces of wearable art.

As an artist, I have busy hands and a busy mind. I’m a designer by trade, and a perfectionist at heart, so details and intricacy play a huge role in my creations. You can be sure that you are purchasing a quality one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted item that has been constructed with precision and passion.

I have been creating jewelry made from recycled antique and vintage findings including watch movements and casings, typewriter keys and watch keys for the past six years. Other media that I utilize includes resin, glass beads and encaustic (molten pigmented wax). I also make guitar straps and wrist cuffs using recycled vintage neckties.

I am a former owner of an award-winning gallery/boutique (Mew Gallery, Philadelphia PA) where I showcased my work along with the work of other local artists and helped build an artist community.

Beethings Studio
www.etsy.com/shop/beethingsstudio

About: I attended Ohio University’s Scripps School of Journalism in the early ‘90s, on a mission to hone my writer’s voice. The craft of writing wasn’t enough for me, however, so I chased after my first love by cramming my schedule full of art classes and eventually earned a specialization in studio art alongside my BSJ. This educational combo has both informed and defined my artistic voice.

The overwhelming opinion on bead-stringing is dismissive: “Anyone can do it.” And of course, as with most things, anyone can. It is what the artist brings to his or her creation that matters – the intention behind the design makes all the difference. The knowledge I possess regarding my medium is vast; but like a good journalist, when I don’t know the exact origin or make-up of a particular gemstone or artifact, I know where to find it.

I like unusual things, rare finds. I like discovering beauty where others can’t see it, and bringing that out however I can. What a delicious challenge it is to make a brass fishing lure an attractive part of an earring design, to turn an old housekey into a desirable necklace, or to find a beautiful piece of fish bone on the beach, knowing it will make its way onto someone’s finger in a ring design.

My jewelry design business, Beethings Studio, embarked upon a whirlwind tour of Northeastern Ohio in 2011; I participated in nearly 70 days of both indoor and outdoor exhibitions from April through December.

Bumbly’s
http://www.bumblys.com

I started my own bath and body etsy shop with nothing but $20 and a block of beeswax I had in my cupboard. In five weeks time, I have over 80 sales on etsy and over 300 items sold offline. I’ve never loved doing anything more in my life. I make balms for lips and skin, bath salts, lotion bars, soap, solid perfume/cologne, body butters and more. It all started because my youngest child has the worst eczema I had ever seen. He was allergic to everything I tried to use on him. So I learned how to make my own products. My friends started asking for them when they saw the welts disappear from his skin. And then someone said “you should sell this stuff. Stop giving it away for free.” Bumbly’s is my passion now.

Fizz Creative
http://www.hellofizz.com

About: Fizz Creative is an award-winning boutique studio run by Jasen Melnick and Katie Major in Cleveland, Ohio.

Fizz started out simply, over a pint of beer. After working various design positions, we still found ourselves wanting to do more projects that excited our passions. Realizing our unique talent for patterns, branding, packaging, and ideas, we decided to strike out on our own. Fizz was a natural choice for people who love beer, wine and design.

We love the work we do because we work with people who feel the same—anyone who is passionate, genuine, and not simply out to make a quick buck. Most of our work is for non-profits and small businesses, but we are also open to collaboration with other designers on passion projects. The most important thing for us is to create work that is meaningful. We strive to help make the world a more beautiful place, in our own designed way.

Liz Sabo
www.lizsabo.com

About: I design and sew fabric bags. At the forefront of all my designs is the merging of style and function. My styles range from simple shopping totes to full size messenger bags. With all my bags, I strive to accomplish a function through the design. The large shopping totes have extra-long handles to make carrying heavy groceries easier. The messenger bags have an abundance of pockets, front and back, and an interior divider for a laptop. My bags are made to hold up to everyday use. Durable, well wearing fabrics are chosen for the exteriors, all layers are reinforced with interfacing, and all have strong straps.

All of my bags are made with fabric because it is fabric that inspires me. Patterns, textures and colors draw me to the materials I choose. Each bag has an individual combination of fabrics so that every bag is a single edition. Although I like to think of my bags as classically stylish, I also try to convey the unexpected in all my design choices. My fundamental motivation is that others can find both fashion and function in my designs to last as long as they desire.

Sunshyne Silverwear
www.sunshynesilverwear.com

About: My name is Erin Gursslin and I recycle unwanted spoons into wearable art. I fill the bowl of the spoon with 3D original artwork then seal it in with a layer of resin. I also use the handle of the spoons as teardrop pendants, painting the handle and then embedding feathers and locally found flowers into them before coating them with resin.

My artwork is all hand drawn and painted with the occasional decoupage style and pressed flower pieces mixed in. I have a WIDE range of original images, something for everyone is my goal :)
New this year, are also some gorgeous hand crafted spoon rings and hair clips made from ornate vintage silver plated flatware.

A little about me: Last year I began the greatest adventure of my life when I quit my day job to pursue my dream of becoming a full time artist. After years of working hum drum jobs and creating art on the side, I thought it was time to live the live I loved.

I got my start in the art biz by selling handmade necklaces on Grateful Dead tour to make money to get from one show to the next. Even though I was always lucky that my bosses understood my love for music, travel and art, doing that part time was just not enough. It’s been 15 months since I’ve had a ‘real job’, the best 15 months of my life! Presently, my days are filled with new experiences and opportunities that I never would have had if I did not take the leap of faith.

Tangled Earth Arts
http://www.etsy.com/shop/TangledEarth

About: I have been creating pieces of chainmaille jewelry for over 4 years. Each piece starts out the same way, as hundreds and sometimes thousands of tiny metal rings. I combine these, ring by ring, using a variety of chainmaille patterns also known as weaves. These have been used for centuries in the construction of armor. By miniaturizing the process, using vibrant colors and precious metals, I am able to create intricate and beautiful pieces of jewelry. The rings I use are hand cut, ensuring the best closure. Finished pieces are then tumbled to remove any rough edges, giving each piece of jewelry a lovely shine. Every aspect of my jewelry is created entirely by me, except for some clasps and findings.

Valkyrie’s Adornments
www.ValkyriesAdornments.com

About: Graphic designer by day, jewelry artist by night, I enjoy designing artisan jewelry that has a natural look and feel with silver, stones, seeds, pearls, glass and rocks…

My heritage is Scandinavian, so I became very interested in viking knit, or trichopoly. I create single, double, triple & multi-strand viking knit using fine silver, stainless steel & permanently colored copper in a multitude of colors. The pieces are finished with precious metal findings and bails from which beautiful pendants and beads are hung or formed into artsy pieces with hammered skewers, lampworked beads and pearls…

My chainmaille is created using jump rings that are made using silver, copper, brass and stainless steel wire. Skipping stones, or beach rocks are incorporated into my chainmaille designs and I also finish off my creations with sterling silver and gold plated vintage clasps.

I love showing people how to create viking knit, and I demonstrate the age-old process during shows.

My viking knit has been published in BeadTrends, Sept 2009; and chainmaille scale earrings in BeadStar 2010.

New September event added!

9 Sep

The night before Centennial Market, BazBiz vendors will be selling on the lower level of the Detroit-Superior Bridge at a pop-up event. Here’s some of what you can expect to see in addition to the usual amazing BazBiz vendors:

We’ve been working on a new effort to open the lower level of the Detroit Superior Bridge as a year-round event venue, public space, and bike/pedestrian connection. We’re testing different ways to use the bridge with temporary events. Last month, the bridge was open to bikes, pedestrians, and pets during rush hour just to see how well the bridge will work as a covered connection between downtown and Ohio City. It worked pretty well–over 400 people showed up and we had no bike/pedestrian/dog crashes.

On Sept 21, the bridge will be open from 7am-11pm. The public will be welcome to use the bridge the whole time, with specific events and programs planned throughout the day. We have a lecture by San Francisco-based artist Jeannene Przyblyski scheduled for noon in the bridge’s temporary lecture hall and conference center. There will be a yoga flash mob at 6:30 pm in the bridge’s temporary open-air yoga studio. Sam McNulty will bring his beer to the bridge for happy hour in the temporary bridge bar.

We’ll also be giving away a $50 shopping spree for Centennial Market at the event so be sure to get yours!

Vendors: we have some spaces left for the Friday night event. Please fill out this form ASAP and we’ll get back to you.
